Road trip to Airlie Beach

Job searching....it takes time!! We are looking to find work in Airlie Beach, which is a hub to the Great Barrier Reef (or at least we'll try our luck at it :))
We started out in Brisbane and headed north along the A1, spending a couple nights in the van at rest stops... This post will be mostly pictures and their captions.....so hang on for the journey north to Airlie Beach!
School uniforms.....you seen them all over....most of them look the same with just different colors!
The different word usage with the signage is always something to look forward to.
House on stilts....yup when you live in a regular flooding area :)
Glass house mountains on our way north toward Noosa Heads

A jungle walk.....at the glass house mtn park

Eucalyptus trees shed their bark instead of their leaves
Making dinner on the park BBQ.....it was fried egg sandwiches!

 Down town Noosa Heads!
This is a strangle fig tree....the fig seed gets deposited in the top of the tree by a bird and over time a fig tree develops by extending roots to the ground and it then envelops the host tree, which eventually dies because the fig tree doesn't allow the sap of the tree to escape. No worries though, when the host tree dies it provides more nutrient for the ground and the fig tree!
 One of the many palms!
Perhaps a fig tree gone awry?!
 Noosa Heads
Granite Bay - I still have not figured out what this pineapple thing is!
At the end of the Coastal walk - this is Hell's Gate
Brianna enjoying the views of the ocean!
Some type of parrot....the one on the right is just chowing a nut!
Wild but tame turkey....they are all over the place! Not an uncommon site!
 Sunset on the road!
Kangaroos in Gin Gin.....Bruce a cattle farmer showed up at the rest area where we were sleeping and after we enquired about work, he brought us to see the kangaroos!

 Boing!!
There are so many birds here!

Some of the awesome signage a person will see along the Hwy's

  1. I had been waiting to hear of your arrival! Good times. Last week it dawned on me that every time I walk in the lab I walk in wondering if Jen is here today. Last week I walked into the lab and thought ..."Ohhh, Jen will not be here today." But, Logan was. Will be awaiting more posts!
