Bali II

After spending a few nights on Gili T, we got a transfer to Ubud, where we spent three nights. This was the view from our accommodation.

Decorations in a garden.....preparing for a ceremony.

Their awesome instruments :)

Orchids......and not even in a pot in the grocery store! ;)

These are the Hindu prayer baskets.......they put them in their temples and then light an incense stick. They do this at least once a day, but more if they can.

And what do you figure?! Another rice field, but I think this one is getting close to harvest time.

How's this for a rubbish bin?!

I reckon Mia is loving our walk through the rice fields.

Just a small art gallery on the side of the trail.

Rice and palms.....who would've ever thought?

The tiered terraces

.....and if any one was concerned.....this IS a wifi environment! haha.....it's definitely better (in Bali) than OZ or NZ!

A lovely home in the middle of the fields.

Oh and on the other side of the path....across the valley.....is a resort.

Doing what a person needs to do....transporting goods.

Mom and son out collecting a few items.

A painter. Recognized the work straight away. He was working at a new resort that's being funded by a guy from Toronto, who lived in Hong Kong for 20 years before moving to Bali.

This is his resort. It's beautiful and smack dab in the middle of the rice fields!

The dwellings are not always so great.

Coconut anyone?

This lady was incredible! This bag was massive and she walked like it was NBD.

The stairs to no where!
....or maybe somewhere!

This lady was insistent that I buy an owl singlet from her, simply because I looked at it. After negotiating for a bit, I didn't buy it but had convinced her that if I changed my mind I'd be back. In the end we were friends, I gave her a hug and took her picture.

I love these ladies! They are great :)

Just a random, old school diving helmet.
Just helping Mia shop for a sarong.

Burning rubbish in the ditches....the next time it rained, the water would wash the remnants away.
Negotiating sales. "sheap price" "gud luck for me" "have a luuk"

We met up with Pablo and Fabrina, our Hayman/Argentina mates, for some local Indonesian food. It was a good time to see them again :).

The next day, we got a tour down to Uluwatu from our friend Eddie and then he dropped us off in Kerobokan.

At the local blow hole. It was pretty sweet as and the track out to it would've never passed safety standards in a modern country.
The religious parking lot. From this parking lot there was access to a Hindu Temple, Protestant Church, Catholic Church, Jewish Mosque, and a Buddhist Temple.

Bakso, a local meatball soup, sold from these bikes.

Visiting a local mechanic shop to get some air for the tires.

An amazing beach that I don't remember the name of.

Clever fountain eh?

Uluwatu. Home to a temple and wild monkeys.

A stop at Blue Point, an amazing surf spot for pros.

I couldn't help but love the color of the water!

Not to be disappointed......Maccas and Sbucks can be found most places.

Touring Seminyak. Here is one of the ceremonial statues for their New Year.

Oh look....Mia's cousins that we met! Anni and Elina Mikkola. They are sisters studying in Bali for three months. It was Anni's birthday, so after dinner we went to the beach for a bonfire and not to mention a gorgeous sunset!

And the stars.....Orion's Belt even in the Southern Hemisphere.
