Helsinki, Finland

Arrival in Europe = amazing! After 30+ hours of traveling, a girl is ready to set out and explore her destination. And the destination so happened to be Helsinki, Finland. Being that it has been a few short days, my shutter has been clicking nearly constant ;). So hang on and enjoy the flood of photos.

Market Square.....one of a few!

Tuomiokirkko, Helsinki's iconic Lutheran Cathedral

Sights within the Senate Square.

Kauppahalli
Ateneum, an art museum

Katie was an awesome tour guide!

Esplanade

I found a Finnish girl! Hannastiina. Note the Fazer café in the background. Yum :)
Central Station

This is a one bedroom hotel that is built around the Harvis Amanda Statue in one of the squares.

Uspenski Cathedral. An Orthodox Church

I like all the multi colored buildings.
One of the harbours

Another cathedral by night.
There is another market square next to the harbor, where the ferry left to Suomenliina.

Suomenliina is an island sea fortress that was used to fight the Russians.

View of the city from the ferry.
What I gathered about this man, is that he played a key role in a war with the Russians.
People enjoying the beautiful day!
My tour guides, Emppa and Katie.

Music Hall, a beautiful building.

The orchestra is warming up.

Parliament Building

Wood Church. It's right in the middle of the city and inside it is so quiet. I reckon that is the point, a place for people to take a quick break from the hustle and bustle.
Lotta and Minna

Sibelius Monument.

Iltapala, evening snack!

Touring on another island, Seurasaari. It's an open-air museum, with a collection of building from around different parts of Finland.

Emppa

Floppy, Aino and Luna

The hockey arena.

Sunset, coffee and pulla at a little red café, on the water.

The Finnish folk that enjoyed the evening with me.
Church built into the rock.

Wheew! ;) This certainly was a flood of photos. I hope you enjoyed them!

Cheers!
