Wanaka, Mt. Fox and the Glaciers

At the top of Diamond Lake Hill overlooking Lake Wanaka. Isn't is gorgeous?!

Gorgeous scenery around Wanaka
Enjoying the view of Lake Wanaka!
Mt. Aspiring from the top of the Diamond Lake Hill.
A beautiful lake that we had saw along the road....we had to stop over and take a picture. I simply think the scenery in NZ is incredible!

Blue Pools.....What do you reckon? and understatement?! It was incredible!

The water was so clear.....apparently the blue occurs from light refraction....the sun hitting the water makes it blue.....cool eh?

Sunset from our camp one night!
Yuck! The sandflies, they were vicious :)
This is the start of the West Coast......north out of Haast at Ship Creek

The sand blows have become covered in all these trees, ferns, and grasses over the years!

and of course there are spider webs.

What about these trees? Do you like them?

A jaguar. I love it, so old and classic!

The highway along the West Coast.

A view of Mt. Tasman from Lake

This lake is known for mountain reflections.....on this day though, it was a bit ripply so I just captured the flax reeds near the shore.

At Franz Josef Glacier

Franz Josef Glacier.....it has receeded so much in a five year period, it's crazy. The end of the glacier used to be almost to where I was standing in this pic.

A lovely waterfall near the glacier.

Good morning....Holly and I woke up to go hike Mt. Fox. The following pictures were from the forest we hiked through!

A guy climbed up and jumped off. What a cool view!

Fox Glacier
Yup....on top of the world again!

Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman

You better believe it, that's the ocean.

Holly taking in the view.

The glacier coming down from the mountain range.

High alpine lakes...so gorgeous!

Once again gorgeous scenery! I hope you enjoyed it.

  1. Jen, I have been loving your pictures! It looks like your having the time of your life!! Way to go! These pictures also bring back so many memories of many years ago when I was in New Zealand. The difference was, we flew up the west coast way too fast and I'm sure I took about one roll of film, if even!:) Would love to have a good camera and unlimited time to do it again!
